As of today we are seeing 12 to 17” of ice in most areas around Payne’s Point. Our tree line is still out 5 miles for the late-season fisherman. We removed our truck and atv bridges as they are no longer needed due to the cracks being frozen up. There is no snow on the lake obviously due to the recent warm-up we have had. The lake will tighten up this weekend with temps in the teens , but the ice will deteriorate quickly if the extended forecast is correct. I do not recommend truck traffic at this time. I would stay away from reefs, points and other shallow areas with vehicles including ATVs and utvs due to the sun penetrating through the ice and melting it faster than other areas. Both of our landings are open still, the north one is in better shape due to the sun not affecting it as much. Remember to support your local fishing club and that the only safe ice comes from Jorgies in Borth.

I want to start this update by saying thanks to our president for all of the hard work and BS he deals with especially during the Fisheree. I want to thank the Vice President for his work in helping the President and directors pull off an excellent fisheree and his excellent work in doing inventory for the club. LOL. I would like to thank our treasurer for keeping the financials in line so we can do what is needed. Most of all, I would like to thank our secretary for all the hard work that goes into keeping track of all the club correspondence, advertising internet b.s. etc. It’s a huge job that goes unnoticed. Last of all, I’d like to thank the directors for coming together and helping our officers so the club could pull off another successful fisheree.
As of today, we have 3 truck bridges and one ATV bridge on the crack, .3 miles off our landing. We plowed our main road out 5 miles to the end of our tree line. We also plowed southeast at our 4-mile marker to brickyards one mile marker on their treeline. We also have a truck bridge and an ATV bridge on the main north-south crack in Cowling Bay out from the Winnebago county boat landing on Grundman lane. The ATV bridge is 20’ north of the truck bridge. We plowed from the landing to the bridge. We will also plow down to garlic island area from that bridge. With the snow coming, we will do our best to keep roads plowed and bridges clear. Don’t be afraid to help shovel a bridge or stop and do it yourself. That stuff really helps us with keeping things moving.
There is plenty of parking at the clubhouse on the ice for battle on bago. Please stop in and support your local fishing club. Remember, the ice is never 100% safe, unless it’s in a locked freezer.

We have a road plowed 5 miles out to the end of our tree line. A major working crack runs east west from Fresh Air Park to just south of Faro Springs.

As of today, we are seeing 16-18” of ice on the majority of the north half of Lake Winnebago.
Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Fishing Club has our tree line 5 miles towards Faro Springs Road on the east shore. We have 2 truck bridges and one ATV bridge on the main north-south crack. It is .3 miles off our landing.
The east-west crack that runs off Wheeler Point (fresh air park) still has two large open holes in it. They are located roughly .45 miles off the west shore. The crack now runs more directly towards Faro Springs. It crosses our tree line at roughly 6.8 miles.
With little to no snow, people need to watch reefs and shallow areas where the sun is heating up the water under the ice and melting it. We have also been seeing some sink holes in old cracks. They now have a couple inches ice on them and are hard to see, so pay close attention to where you are heading.
Don’t forget to stop down at the clubhouse on County A this weekend for the club’s annual Fisheree 2025 - Celebrating 46 Years!. Live music etc. Remember the ice is never 100% safe.

As of this afternoon I am finding 16” to 18” of ice on average, we have 2 truck bridges and one ATV bridge out on the main crack .3 miles off shore. The east-west crack that runs from Fresh Air Park towards faro springs now cuts southeast and crosses where our plowed road would be roughly 6.8 miles off our landing. There is still a couple open holes roughly .5 miles off the fresh air Camp along the crack.
You can get south to blackbird reef and down to Garlic once you cross our bridges. I am monitoring the east-west crack and will decide whether or not to bridge it in the next few days. One at a time on the bridges. Slow down coming into shore.
Please park on the ice if hanging out at the clubhouse, our parking lot on shore is not the size of a Walmart parking lot there is not much room, and it makes it a real pain in the ass for people to get on and off the lake from our north landing when there are a lot of cars parked on shore.
Clubhouse opens at 9 am tomorrow and saw raffle tomorrow afternoon.
Remember the ice is only safe when surrounded by whisky.

As of today, I am finding 14” to 16-1/2” of ice on the lake in the areas out from Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Fishing Club. We have a truck bridge on a crack that runs north-south .3 miles off our landing. We also have a truck bridge .7 miles off our landing on a crack that runs from Little Blackbird Island towards high cliff. We have an ATV bridge on the first crack. Our tree line is out 5 miles towards Faro Springs rd on the east shore.
There is a large east-west crack that runs from fresh air camp east towards the south edge of the state park. Starting at .4 miles off fresh air camp there are 3 or 4 open holes along this crack. The biggest hole is roughly 40’ by 100’. The smallest is 10’ by 20’ roughly. I marked these holes with a sturgeon hole marker 2 weeks ago. This crack is 1.8 miles north of our tree line.
**When you are on the lake, quit playing on your phone and daydreaming and PAY ATTENTION TO WHATS IN FRONT OF YOU! With no snow on the lake and these extreme temperature swings the ice is cracking in random places sometimes almost a foot wide. Most of the time these cracks freeze immediately after they happen but not always. Please drive 10 mph in the bay going to the bridge or heading to shore from the bridges. One at a time on the bridge, full coverage on your vehicle you drive on the ice, seat belt OFF, doors unlocked, and enjoy the outdoors.
Support your local fishing club and remember the ice is never 100% safe.
Thanks Skipper, Noorgard, Bozo, Kurt, Tyler, Ryan and whoever else helped with the bridges and tree line last Saturday!

As of today, we are finding between 8” and 11” ice on the lake in most areas out from the Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Fishing Clubs landing. We have a main crack that runs north-south that is .3 of a mile off our landing. I have been crossing it with an ATV, but I suggest using extreme caution if you cross it. A crack also runs from the fresh air park in a slight ark around the northern part of the lake. I heard a report of some open holes along this crack. I went yesterday and found some holes along it that were 20’ in diameter and some holes that were 30 by 50’ or a little bigger. The first hole I saw was a little over a half mile east of shore. I went east from there and saw a few more holes scattered along the crack. I didn’t go west toward shore to check for more holes. There was 10” of ice on the south side of the holes. They should freeze up soon when we get some days with little to no wind. I didn’t travel south of payne’s point/blackbird island area yet to check the conditions. I will do that soon. I did travel to the Faro Springs landing on the east shore though. Had decent travel all the way across with consistent ice. We will put out an atv bridge out by the weekend. Support your local fishing club and remember the only safe ice I know of is surrounded by Jack Daniels.
