We will be pulling out remaining atv bridges this morning due to the forecasted temperatures and rain. Our landing will remain open. Travel carefully.
Thank you to all that helped me with plow and bridge this year. Remember the only safe ice is at the Quinney Quencher.

March 3, 2026
We have one atv bridge on the main crack .4 miles out from our landing. We also have an atv bridge roughly 1 mile east of Blackbird Island on the big east-west crack.
Overall, the lake is holding up well. Need to pay attention around reefs and shallow areas. Our landing is getting beat up, park on shore or right on the landing if going out with atv or utv.
We will be monitoring conditions daily and will do our Best to give a heads up on when we are planning to pull the atv bridges.
February 23, 2026
As of today, we are seeing 16-18” of ice on the lake in the areas out from Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Fishing Club. We have pulled our truck bridges off of the lake after the recent warm-up/rainfall. We have an atv bridge on the main crack .4 miles out from the landing, and we have an ATV bridge on the east-west crack that runs across the lake north of the treeline. It is located on the west side of Haystack Reef.
Be careful traveling on the lake. Most of the sturgeon hole markers have fallen down, and the landings are getting beaten up after the warm weather and rain we got last week.
Support your local fishing club and remember the only safe ice is in my drink cup.
February 18, 2026
Due to the recent rainfall and warm weather, we are going to pull our truck bridges off no later than 7 AM Thursday morning.
If you are relying on our Truck bridges to get out to your Sturgeon shack or Fishing, I would suggest you either pull your shack or come up with a different route to get to it we will have an update later today or first thing in the morning on where our ATV and UTV bridges will be placed for the coming weekend sorry for the inconvenience.
Also, please drive SLOW when approaching shore.
February 9, 2026
As of today we are seeing 18-21” of ice on the majority of the lake. We had to put a truck bridge back on the crack .4 miles out from our landing on the main road. We also have a bridge at 3.1 miles out on the treeline. We have a plowed road across to calumet county park landing where the Brickyard fishing club has their tree line on the east shore. At .5 miles out on our treeline, we have a road plowed to the south where we have a bridge on the east- west crack that runs east off of blackbird island. From there we plowed south to south asylum bay where Otter Street Fishing Club has a bridge on the main crack out from driftwood ave on the north side of Oshkosh. Also at .5 miles out we have a road plowed to the north where we have a bridge just east of haystack reef on the large east- west crack that is north of our treeline. From there we have a plowed road that parallels the crack across the lake to Faro Springs Road on the east shore.
Stop down at our fisheree this weekend at the clubhouse at 1934 county road A. We have live music, raffles, food and refreshments all in a large heated tent. Don’t forget to support your local fishing club and the only safe ice is in my big buck cup.

As of today, we are seeing 18-21” of ice in most areas on the lake. We plowed across the lake this morning on the north side of our treeline. At 3.1 miles, we have a truck bridge on a crack that runs from southeast to northwest. At the end of our treeline at 6 miles, we cut southeast towards the Calumet County Park landing (Brickyard Fishing Club). We also plowed from .5 miles out to the north to our truck bridge on the east side of haystack reef, which is on a major east-west working crack. It is to wet for us to put our atv bridge on at this time. We also plowed south from .5 miles out to our truck bridge on the east-west crack that runs off of Blackbird Island. From there, we plowed south to the east side of the reefs east of Garlic Island, then down to the bridge Otter Street Fishing Club has off of Driftwood Lane in Asylum Bay.

We will plow again in the morning and adjust bridges as needed. Don’t be afraid to shovel the bridges off our chisel them down if they are up. Believe it or not, the bridges don’t maintain themselves. Thanks to Nick and Don for the help today. Support your local fishing club. And remember, the only safe ice is in a working man’s drink.

We now have a truck bridge on the working crack that runs east off of blackbird island. It is located roughly 1/2 mile east of the island and is marked with 2 Xmas trees. Support your local fishing club and remember the only safe ice is in my whiskey glass.
January 26, 2026
As of today, we are seeing 14 to 17 inches of ice on Lake Winnebago in the areas around Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Fishing Club. We now have our tree line out 6 miles towards Faro Springs Rd on the east shore. There is a crack at roughly 6.3 miles that crosses where we would normally plow our road to Faro Springs. The crack runs from the north end of Calumet County Park on the east shore across the lake and hits the west shore just south of the fresh air camp north of the clubhouse. We are monitoring it at this time and will decide whether or not to bridge it in the near future.

If you cut south from our tree line at the end, you can drive to the Brickyard Fishing Club's tree line and get to the east shore there at Calumet County Park. There is also an east-west crack that runs from Blackbird Island east towards the north end of Calumet County Park that ends roughly 4.5 miles out in the lake from the west shore. We are monitoring it as well.

We currently have two truck bridges and an atv bridge on the main north- south crack .4 miles off our landing. They are marked with 4 Xmas trees, one at each corner of the bridge. One at a time on the bridge, and slow down as you approach the bridge and shore. Our north landing is open and in good shape. Stop in and support your local fishing club.

Remember, the only safe ice is at the Quinney Quencher.

As of today, we are seeing 12-17 inches of ice on the lake off Paynes Point Hook & Spear Fishing Club, Inc. We now have two truck bridges and one ATV bridge on the main working crack .4 miles off our landing. We have our tree line out 6 miles towards Faro Spring Road. There is a working crack at 6.3 miles
I will have another update in the next day or two. Thanks to all who helped today.
Remember, the ice is never safe unless it's from The Fountain Tavern in a glass.

I want to start off by apologizing for the lack of consistent ice reports this season. The main reason is that since I started checking ice, not much has changed on the lake in the areas around Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Fishing Club until recently.

We have not really made much ice lately, especially close to the west shore. We developed a major shove/crack right off our landing last week, and it has been pretty active the last few days. Late yesterday, Darryl Lehman and I chiseled, chopped, and smashed as much of the shove as we could to flatten it out and hope it will freeze up this week. Once we know what that crack is going to do and make a couple more inches of ice, we will put out our treeline and truck bridges.

There is a working crack 0.4 miles out, marked with an orange cone, where we have an ATV bridge. There is a working crack that runs from black bird island east, then northeast towards High Cliff. It crosses where our road would be to Faro Springs at 6.3 miles from our landing. Numerous clubs around the north side and east side of the lake have put their tree line out and bridges etc. As soon as we have enough ice, we will too. There are numerous places with 10” of ice still.

Support your local fishing club and remember the only safe ice is at Mikeee's Paynes Point Bar
January 12, 2026
The ATV bridge is 4/10 of a mile off our landing on the main north-south crack. It is now moved roughly 200 yards north of where it was before, marked with an orange cone.
We also had to put an ATV bridge right off our north landing for a crack that developed. We are seeing the same ice depths as we were before the previous warm-up, with a little less the closer you get to the West shore, but otherwise averaging 10.5 to 12 inches all the way across the lake maybe a little more in spots.
Remember, the only safe ice is in my orange cup. Thanks.

Happy New Year!
I would like to give a quick update on what I have been finding for ice thicknesses off Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Fishing Club. Over the past week, I have found 8” to 13” of ice out from our landing, which pretty much mirrors what other clubs are finding on the lake. We have a working crack that runs north-south at .4 miles off our landing. We didn’t put an ATV bridge out yet. We will most likely put one out this weekend.
If you are parking at the clubhouse, please be considerate of others to make the most room for parking. Our north landing is open to ATV/UTV/Snowmobile traffic at this time. Please do not park cars and trucks on the ice yet.
If you are dropping off a USED CHRISTMAS TREE, please lay it on the rocks on the south side of the point as seen in the picture. Please, no new trees from tree lots.
